GENERAL INFORMATION:

Race Start Time:  8:00 am. 

Arrival Time:  Arrive at race site no later than 7:00 am. 

Parking:  Ample parking will be available. Please follow signs to the appropriate location off of Robert Little Road.

Body Marking:  All participants must be marked at the body marking area – located adjacent to the registration table. Body marking will begin at 6:30 am. 

Pre-Race Instructions Meeting:  Important pre-race meeting at swim start at 7:45 am.

Day of Race Information

Transition area:

¨      No bike storage the night before the race.

¨      Participants only in the transition area.

¨      Only the race participant will be allowed to remove his/her bike from the transition area.

¨      Participants will not be allowed to mount bikes inside transition area. Mount bikes on the driveway pavement.

¨      Participants will be made to dismount at the edge of the driveway pavement following the bike segment.

 

Swim: (note change in waves #1 & #3)

¨      Wave start information will be posted at packet pick-up and also race morning at registration:

o       Wave #1  8:00 a.m.   Red Caps           Punks = Men under 45                           

o       Wave #2  8:05 a.m.   White Caps        Chicks = All women                       

o       Wave #3  8:10 a.m.   Blue Caps          Geezers and Teams = Men 45 and over and teams                                       

¨      Be prepared to be at the swim start no later than 7:45 am.

¨      Swim caps have been provided and must be worn.

 Bike:

¨      Bike course map is on website and is attached.

¨      Hard shell (ANSI or Snell approved) helmets must be worn. USAT Rules – Helmets required whenever you are riding your bike – even warm-ups or going to transition.

¨      Helmets must be fastened before leaving the transition area.

¨      Stay to the right to allow faster cyclists to pass on the left.

¨      Bike numbers that are provided must be attached to the left side of your bike.

¨      No headphones, earphones, or any radio-type devices will be allowed.

¨      There are plenty of volunteers and police officers along the course, but it is ultimately your responsibility to know the course. You listening Kyle?

¨      General rule of thumb on bike course will be to stay to the right.

¨      NO DRAFTING – Drafting sucks, and you don’t want to suck, do you? USAT rules – 7 meters between bikes; 15 seconds to pass; if passed, you must drop out of the drafting box.

¨      Remember that there are NO drafters in Heaven.

 Run:

¨      Run numbers are provided. Wear the run number on your front.

¨      Run course map attached, sure does give you a good tour of the property doesn’t it?

¨      The course will be well marked. There will be directional arrows where needed.

¨      Two aid stations will be located on the course, one near the mile mark and the second near the second mile mark.  Water and ice only. Please remember to tip the wait staff.

¨      No headphones, earphones, or any radio-type devices will be allowed.

Post Race Refreshments will be available near the finish line.  

Award presentations will begin immediately after the last competitor finishes the race. Estimated time for the awards ceremony is 10:30 am. You must be present to collect your award or have someone else get it for you. Awards will not be mailed out.

NO ALCOHOL ON SITE!

Results will be posted after the awards ceremony and will be posted on the Internet at Jim Young’s website www.runnc.com
